Steady Bites ("we", "our", "the app") is a behavior-based food tracking app and an editorial website. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it.

What we collect

Data you provide directly, stored securely via our database provider (Supabase):

  • Account info — your email address, or your Apple or Google account identifier if you use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google
  • Food logs — food category, tier (healthy/normal/splurge), quantity, and meal slot for each entry you log
  • Optional entries — daily weight, exercise days, cheat days, and any custom food shortcuts you create
  • App preferences — plan type, daily targets, display name, and similar settings
  • Guide — chat messages and remembered conversation context

We do not collect calorie data, macro data, or any nutrition detail beyond what's listed above — Steady Bites is intentionally not a calorie counter.

Third-party services we use

  • Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication (including "Sign in with Apple", "Sign in with Google", and email sign-in)
  • OpenAI — generates personalized Guide replies using your messages, recent conversation and remembered chat context, plus relevant food logs, eating patterns, weight entries and trends, exercise history, and plan settings, when you permit sharing in Guide
  • RevenueCat — manages in-app subscription purchases and status; receives your purchase history and a device/account identifier to sync entitlements
  • PostHog — product analytics such as page and article views, feature usage, and sign-in outcomes, along with browser and device information. When you sign in, these events are associated with your account ID. We do not send your email, passwords, sign-in tokens, or food-journal text with these events. Website session recording and automatic click capture are disabled.
  • Google AdMob — shows ads to free-tier users. On iOS, we ask for App Tracking Transparency permission before using your advertising identifier for personalized ads; you can decline and still use the app
  • Google AdSense — when enabled, serves advertisements on our website. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, IP addresses, and device or browser information to serve and measure ads, prevent fraud, and personalize ads according to your consent choices. We do not sell your data to anyone.

Guide and AI sharing choices

Sharing with OpenAI is optional. You can use the rest of the app without Guide. To stop future sharing from this device, open Guide → AI privacy → Stop sharing and leave Guide. Your choice applies to your account on that device. Stopping sharing does not delete information already processed. You can delete your Steady Bites account and associated data as described below.

Website advertising choices

Where required, Google's consent message asks for your advertising choices. You can revisit those choices through the privacy settings link provided by that message. You can also manage personalized advertising in Google My Ad Center and control cookies in your browser settings. Declining personalized advertising does not prevent you from reading our stories.

Data deletion

You can delete your Steady Bites account and associated data directly in the app. Open Steady Bites, go to Profile, select Delete Account, and confirm deletion. This deletes your account and the associated food logs, weight entries, exercise entries, settings, and custom foods stored by Steady Bites.

Subscription and purchase records handled by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat may be retained where required for transaction processing, fraud prevention, accounting, or legal compliance. For help with an account-deletion request, email contact@steadybites.com.

Children

Steady Bites is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
